Day for Dravet

One of the students in my class has Dravet Syndrome, a also known as Severe Myoclonic Epilepsy of Infancy (SMEI).  This is a rare and challenging neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by frequent, severe, and difficult-to-control seizures that begin in the first year of life. It is usually accompanied by varying degrees of developmental delay and/or regression of acquired skills. Orthopedic issues, behavior problems and other symptoms are also common. Children with Dravet syndrome do not outgrow their seizures. There is currently no cure for Dravet syndrome and there are few effective treatments. (from the IDEALeague website)

On Saturday, October 10th, I will be walking with and for Ryan to raise money for the research and treatment of Dravet Syndrome.  You can visit my pledge page if you'd like to join me or donate money to the cause!!
